The Masterplan : Part 2 (complete)

Quick update, the iPhone has sold already for £325! Wasn’t expecting it to go so quickly but praise the lord for eBay. Now that step 2 is complete I just have to wait patiently for the 24th to come around, get up early and join the queue.

The Masterplan : Part 2

Part 1 of my iPhone 4 masterplan was a great success.  I now have a brand new shiny iPhone 3GS in my hands after vising the apple store and showing them my crack.

shiny & new

So now stage 2 is well under way.  I have listed the new phone on eBay to the fine tune of £320 including special delivery.  This should cover my existing contract payoff and iPhone 4 with ease and I might even have a couple of quid left for a celebratory pint.  The listing is for 3 days for a quick transaction so all is in place for the 24th, in the mean time I’m using this bad boy as my replacement phone.

Rubbish!

I have transitioned from the most feature packed smartphone  currently on the market to the most feature basic phone ever made.  This is the VX1i from BlueChip available from Tesco (if you’re lucky to find one in stock) for £9.49.  It does what is says on the tin; calls, sms, phonebook and calculator.  Ideal to use as a backup or taking on holiday, but God knows how I’m going to cope with this for 2 weeks!

The Masterplan : Part 1

So the launch of the iPhone 4 is just around the corner as im sure you’re well aware.  But what about the 3GS owners that are still tied down to a contract with 6 months or more remaining, like me?!  Well, o2 have kindly let us pay off our existing contracts for an upfront fee of £20 a month.  Nice of them to offer, but you could get a second mobile contract and a decent handset for this price.

So… whats the plan?  Well, this morning at 11am I have an appointment in an apple store to go and discuss some hairline cracks I have around the doc conector on my 3GS.

The cracks started off as above around 6 months ago but have since grew longer and more prominent.  After doing a few google searches it turns out I’m not the only one with this issue.  Alot of people managed to get replacements on the spot in apple stores as long as their water damadge indicator hadn’t been triggered.

So I’m off to the apple store this morning in the hope that I can get a brand new shiny 3GS replacement due to these cracks. That is the first step of my plan, the second?  eBay.

Stay tuned.

Update: Part 1 was a great success, Part 2 is well under way.
